How are The Cat Society sitters vetted?
ID check, a face-to-face interview with the Cat Society team, and documented experience. No profile joins the platform without passing this check.
How do I know my cat sitter actually came by?
You only receive photos taken in the moment. The camera opens inside the app: the sitter can’t send a picture from their phone’s camera roll, so every photo is dated to the instant it was taken. They post one a day, every day of the stay. For home visits, they also check in on arrival and on departure, and each check-in is geolocated: we compare their position with the address on your request, and the visit only shows as verified by The Cat Society if it matches. So you can see what time they arrived and how long they stayed. For boarding at the sitter’s and house sitting, they’re with your cat around the clock, so there’s no visit to check in.
What happens in a veterinary emergency?
The sitter contacts your usual vet, lets you know straight away and sends you the quote. You pay it yourself in the app, case by case, and the amount is passed on to the sitter so they can settle the bill. The Cat Society takes no commission on a vet quote.
How much does a stay cost?
You, the owner, set the price of the stay when you post your request. The Cat Society guides you with a reference price that you can adjust. And the longer the stay, the lower the rate: expect to pay on average €26 for a weekend and €250 for a three-week stay at the sitter’s.
How does the first meeting work?
It’s not compulsory: everything happens right on the website, in your personal space. A simple chat by message, a phone call or a video call from your space is enough if you prefer. Our sitters are usually less than 15 minutes from your home, so meeting up is easy to arrange: for home visits, the sitter comes to you; for boarding at the sitter’s, you go to theirs; for house sitting, it’s done by video call from the app, as the sitter is often still in another city. If you don’t click, you can meet other sitters.
What if my cat is on medical treatment?
Mention it in your request: pipettes, injections, older, anxious or polydactyl cats. Many of our sitters have handled these situations before, and they choose for themselves which requests they accept.
Do I get a refund if I cancel at the last minute?
Yes, in full, with nothing held back. You pay when you book, but a same-day cancellation is refunded in full, whatever the reason. Things come up, we understand.
What happens if the sitter cancels shortly before the stay?
Don’t panic: your request is automatically relaunched and we widen the circle of sitters we contact, to make sure we find you someone quickly. You don’t have to do anything again: we take care of everything so your cat is never left without a solution.
